Tom Sharp has been with Blalack & Williams
since 1998. He has over ten years of experience in representing
financial institutions and small businesses. Prior to joining Blalack
& Williams, Tom worked principally in business transactions and
commercial litigation. Since joining the firm, he has focused on
representing credit unions and other lenders in bankruptcy and consumer
litigation. He has appeared before federal judges in every district in
the state of Texas and has acted as lead counsel in representing credit
unions and others in state courts throughout Texas. He is a member of
the State Bar of Texas and the Federal Bar of the Northern, Southern,
Western and Eastern Districts of Texas. He is also a member of the
Financial Institutions Legal Counsel Network.
Tom's experience in bankruptcy representation
includes automatic stay, plan objections and claims litigation, complex
adversary proceedings and claims, plan and reaffirmation negotiation.
He is called upon to review client collection and bankruptcy procedures
and provides in-house seminar training to the firm's clients. He
provides counsel on secured transactions and defensive matters
involving the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Deceptive
Trade Practices Act. Tom also litigates federal and state cases
involving asset seizure, garnishments, home equity and real estate
foreclosures, and probate. He provides contract review and advice on
compliance matters and employment law issues.
